Inades Formation Tanzania (IFTz) is a Non governmental Organization (NGO) not for profit making affiliated to the network of Inades Formation International. It was established in 1989 as a branch of Inades Formation Kenya. It became an independent National Office (NO) in 1992. In 1994 a legally independent National Association (NA) was formed and registered, in the same year, under the Ministry of Home affairs as a "society".

Location

IFTz NO is located at Area "C" in Dodoma town (the administrative capital city of Tanzania) about 600km from Dar es Salaam. IFTz also has an office branch located in Mbeya town of the Southern Highlands Zone of Tanzania.

Areas of Operation

In Tanzania IFTz operates in Dodoma, Singida, Mbeya and Morogoro regions.

Our Vision

IFTz envisions a socio-political situation whereby smallholder farmers (women and men) are organised and possess a genuine power to:

• Control their natural resources and distribution channels of their produces.
• Become a negotiation power capable of proposing a sound policy environment in order to influence and develop national policies concerning their own development.
• Be recognised and respected as farmers.
• Understand and implement the concept of gender and development so as to reduce gender imbalances in their societies.
• Take preventive measures to reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS in their societies

Our Mision

IFTz seeks to support, through Action-Research-Training, farmers’ actions and initiatives in:

• Managing sustainably their natural resources and produces.
• Building capacity of Farmer Organisations (FOs) in negotiation and advocacy ability.
• Increasing farmers income, savings and credit facilities.
• Catalysing FOs own development processes, especially through networking.
• Promoting awareness on HIV/AIDS and other health issues.
